Commonwealth 2023 Split-site PhD Scholarship for Developing Countries – UK

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships for Developing Countries 2023-2025. This program is designed to support outstanding doctoral students from developing countries in pursuing their research at a leading university in the UK.


To be eligible for the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a developing Commonwealth country
  • Have a strong academic record, with a Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Have a demonstrated interest in research in one of the following themes:

    • Climate change and sustainable development
    • Education and skills development

  • Be committed to returning to their home country upon completion of their studies

Scholarship Coverage

The Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships will cover the following:

  • Full tuition fees at the UK university
  • Monthly stipend of £1,660 (approximately USD 1,980)
  • Research allowance of £2,000 (approximately USD 2,400) per year
  • Travel costs (up to a maximum of £2,500 (approximately USD 3,000))
  • Health insurance
  • Access to the UK university’s research facilities and resources

Application Process

The application deadline for the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships is December 5, 2023. Applicants can submit their applications online.
