The Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF) is pleased to announce a call for applications for its 2023-2024 PhD Scholarship program for Rwandan and Nigerian nationals. This program is designed to support outstanding Rwandan and Nigerian students in pursuing their doctoral studies at leading universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the RSIF PhD Scholarship program, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Rwanda or Nigeria
- Have a strong academic record
- Be enrolled in or admitted to a full-time PhD program at a recognized university in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Have a strong research proposal with a focus on one of RSIF’s priority areas, including:
- Agriculture and food security
- Climate change and sustainable development
- Health and well-being
- Infrastructure and economic development
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
- Be proficient in English, both written and spoken
Scholarship Coverage
The RSIF PhD Scholarship program will cover the following:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of EUR 1,000
- Research allowance of EUR 1,000 per year
- Travel costs (up to a maximum of EUR 2,000)
- Health insurance
- Access to RSIF’s network of scholars and researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond
Application Process
The application deadline for the RSIF PhD Scholarship program is April 15, 2023. Applicants can submit their applications online.
Selection Process
Applications will be assessed by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:
- Academic record
